This Privacy Policy describes how SwapYrd ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our mobile application ("App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy.

With your permission we collect your device's precise GPS location to show you listings nearby and to place your listings on the map. We request "while using the app" access only — we do not track your location in the background. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; the App will continue to work but distance-based results and map features will be unavailable.
In Apple's App Store privacy nutrition label and Google Play's data safety form, this is disclosed as Precise Location, collected while the app is in use, and used solely for app functionality.
When you use the App we automatically collect certain technical data, including your IP address, device type, operating system version, and general usage patterns (screens visited, features used). While we do not actively link this data to your name or email, IP addresses and device identifiers may qualify as personal information under applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA). We collect this data solely to diagnose issues and improve the App. We do not use it for advertising or share it with advertising networks.

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, including for cross-contextual behavioural advertising. We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
Public listing information. When you post a listing, the listing content (photos, description, general address, price) and your display name are visible to all App users. Your email address is never shown publicly.
Service providers. We use the following sub-processors to operate the App. Each provider is contractually required to protect your data and is prohibited from using it for their own purposes.

Payments. SwapYrd does not currently facilitate or process any payments within the App. All financial transactions between users happen in person and are entirely outside our platform. If you choose to use a third-party payment service (e.g. Venmo, PayPal, Cash App) to settle a transaction, that interaction is governed solely by the privacy policy of that service.
Legal obligations. We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person or to investigate fraud.
Business transfers. If SwapYrd is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via email or in-app notice before your information is subject to a different privacy policy.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@swapyrd.app.
SwapYrd is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@swapyrd.app and we will delete it promptly.

We do not sell or share your personal information, including for cross-contextual behavioural advertising. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Our lawful bases for processing are: (a) performance of a contract — operating your account and delivering the Service; (b) legitimate interests — fraud prevention and App improvement; and (c) consent — precise location access, which you may withdraw at any time. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK, or your national DPA in the EU).
Your data is stored and processed in the United States. Our database infrastructure is hosted in a U.S. data centre. If you are located outside the United States, by using the App you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection standards than your country.
The App may display listing addresses that, when tapped, open a third-party mapping application (such as Apple Maps or Google Maps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those applications and encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, by sending you an email or in-app notification. Your continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
